lackberries came to Serbia recently, some thirty years ago. They have since become a local favorite and an important export crop.

Most blackberries in Serbia are still hand picked on small, family owned fields.

Larger plantations are emerging and Serbia is becoming one the leading producers of blackberries in Europe. Central Serbia is renowned for its blackberries, as well as the Macva and Zupa regions.

Main varieties of blackberries grown in Serbia include the Thornfree, Cacak Thornfree, and Black Satin.
