jagoda, jagode, strawberry, strawberries

ost strawberries grown in Serbia are the Senga Sengana variety. The bright red color of Senga Sengana and the berry’s famous ability to hold its fresh flavor make this the most sought after variety for freezing and processing. Growers are currently expanding production of Camarosa and other varieties to meet increased demand by fresh markets.

Forest Strawberries

A little known fact—Serbia produces one of the world’s only supplies of wild forest strawberries in commercial quantities. These intensely flavorful berries (Fragaria vesca) are picked by hand in forests and valleys throughout Serbia and delivered to local village collection centers. Buyers eagerly snap them up for premium products and luxury markets.

In 2005, growers like IPTCH Willamette began offering fresh and frozen greenhouse grown forest strawberries for export.
